Did another prompt! This one was just a quick little story. More of a scene than a full story.

The prompt:
A witch cursed your name to be hated for all of eternity. So of course, the first thing you do is willingly give it to a fae.

My Story:
Days after being cursed by a witch for your trickery, you happen upon a powerful Fae. You ask the fae for a favor, something grand, but not too extravagant as to make them question the favor.

They narrow their eyes at you, taking you in. "And what shall you give me in return?"

You pause for dramatic effect, as if contemplating. "Oh, I don't know. I don't really have much."

You see a glint in the Fae's eye, their lips parting in a fiendish grin. "Your name then, it's such a small thing."

You close your eyes, silently calming your glee. "I don't know, my mother gave it to me, it's all I have left of her."

You suppose that's true, you never actually knew your mother. You watch the fae's reaction to this new information. Their pupils dilate, and you swear their nostrils flare just the tiniest bit. You fight back a laugh, covering your mouth as you clear your throat.

"I shall ensure my gift to you will last as long as you live. All you need to do is give me your name." You can hear the excitement in their voice.

You take a deep breath and let it out in a great burst as if in defeat, "Alright. It's a deal."

"Wonderful." The fae's eyes are nearly black and their face all teeth as they lean toward you, "Now, what is your name?"

"Um, my gift? Don't I get my gift first? And no harm to come to me by you after we finish the trade." You raise an eyebrow at the creature before you.

"Right, right. It is done," they waive their hand impatiently. "Once the deal is done no harm shall come to you from me. Now. Your. Name."

You quickly state your name and turn and flee, shouting over your shoulder, "No backsies! The deal is done!" Cackling, you run as far as you can, assuming a new name with the gifts given you by the fae.

Poem!

Finally managed another poem! It started terrible, but it's a bit better now. I'm still trying to work on getting where I'd like them to be, but for now it was just nice to write again.

This one isn't really bad, so I'm not going to put it behind a cut. If you'd like me to hide it, let me know and I'll make a cut.

My laugh slips into a gasp,
Your lips finding the soft skin of my throat.

A moan escapes as your teeth graze
Across my pulse point.

My hand tangles in your hair,
jokes forgotten.

Your lips plotting a path to mine,
Taking full advantage of your surprise opportunity.

More Poems!

I haven't written any new ones in a while, life has gotten a bit hectic and stressful. But I realized I hadn't posted these yet, so here are the last few I wrote before I lost the time/inspiration.

Discovered something new and kind of fell down the rabbit hole a bit.

Scrolling through Tumblr and stumbled across some smutty poetry. While I'm not at all surprised it exists, I had never seen it before. I don't typically write in first person, I find it awkward and usually have to write in third person and then edit it to first. But this just flowed right out like the simplest thing I've ever done.

Anamnesis Game

I finished this yesterday, but then noticed in my excitement, I missed part of the prompt. So here is the full prompt completed today. Enjoy! [personal profile] singedsun

Act II: Swords:

"After getting your bearings, you walk around town. You know this town. You know it well, but you cannot remember it."

THE STAR
"In front of you walks a couple. They are holding hands and smiling. How does seeing this couple make you feel? Does it remind you of anyone?"

THE HANGED MAN
"Your eyes are drawn to a statue. What is this statue of? Which emotions does it stir in you?"

THE CHARIOT
"You find yourself wandering through a graveyard. What do you find there?"

Anamnesis Game

[personal profile] singedsun posted about a writing game played with prompts and tarot cards. Your character wakes with amnesia and you try to figure yourself out. I thought it sounded like fun, so here's my first round.

My cards (provided by [personal profile] singedsun):

My prompts:

Shadow self- Hermit (not pictured)

Temperance
"You open your mouth and hear yourself speak. What is your voice like?"

The Empress
"There is a word on the tip of your tongue. Which word is this?"

The Tower
"You feel pain. Where is the pain coming from? What is it caused by?"

My story:

I open my eyes to semi-darkness, I can't fully make out my surroundings. I open my mouth to call out to anyone that might be near by, but all I can manage is a thin, wavery croak. My throat feels dry, like it hasn't been used or perhaps over-used. I can't remember the last time I spoke. My mind races as I try to remember anything that happened before I woke just now. There are flashes, feelings, but nothing substantial, nothing I can grab on to. I can feel the shape of a word forming, the curve of... a name? A place? I can feel the edge of it on my tongue, yet as I focus on it, trying to bring it into existence, I feel a sharp pain slice through my head. I cry out, bringing my hands up to my head, pressing the heels of my hands into my temples. It feels as if something is being ripped away from me.

Numbers for the next round:
3, 2, 10

Ficlet

I was driving the other day, listening to The Amazing Devil (as I have been for weeks now) when a random story idea popped into my head. It took a few days to get it written down and fleshed out a bit, but I finished it today.

Hiding in Plain Sight

It was originally just two random people, but then I thought it would be funny if one knew the other and because of the music that inspired it, it ended up being Jasiker and Yennefer.

The song that inspired me was Wild Blue Yonder )

It's not much, but it was nice to write something.

Writing Prompt

Wrote a short story yesterday as well. Did some editing on it today, it feels awkward to me, but I think a lot of it is because it's written in second person and I'm not used to it, it's also not my preferred reading style, but I felt it worked best with the prompt. (I suppose I could've done first person, but I'm worse at that than I am second person lol)

The Prompt:
You're being chased by a vampire through the city, one hour before sunrise. You see a homeless person's tent and dive in. You now have to convince the bewildered person inside, for one hour, to ignore the gorgeous, seductive vampire on the other side of the flaps trying to gain an invitation.

My Story )

I'm not sure it's exactly what the prompt was looking for, but that's what came out lol. Any comments or concrit are welcome!

Snagged this from [personal profile] tinny

1. Why did you start writing fanfic?

I didn't even know fanfic was a thing until about five years ago.

Writing has always been something I enjoy doing, but I had gotten away from it. I saw fanfic as a way to get back into doing something I loved.

2. Why do you write fanfic?

I like "fixing" things or adding things I felt were missing to shows I enjoy.

I've recently tested out writing AUs and that's pretty fun too!

3. How do you choose fandoms and why do you choose them?

I'm going to agree with Tinny. Fandom chooses you. When you get completely pulled in by something, and it consumes your every waking thought, you're part of the fandom. What you do with it is up to you.

I will say that I generally find myself falling for things that have immersive stories and well rounded characters. It helps if there's a character I can identify with.

4. Do you have themes or plot devices you return to?

I think most of my fic is romantic/smut/fluff. Outside of that, it goes along with whatever is happening in the show.

5. Do you have any pet peeves?

About fanfic? I guess I don't like how people outside of fandom perceive it. How it's looked at as talentless and something to be ridiculed. I didn't tell my husband I wrote it for a long time for that reason. I finally told him and he was curious, but mostly ok with it. Then he mentioned it to one of his friends and now he makes snarky comments.

As far as my writing goes, I've noticed that most of my fics are very dialogue heavy. I'm not sure what to do about that.

6. Which story/stories are you the most proud over and why?

I guess if I had to pick, I'd go with All In it was my first time writing smut and it's still has the most hits of all my fics.

I'm also pretty proud of Riddles because I made up the riddle myself.

And Stay is my longest published fic, also the first to not be romance centric.

magnetic poetry

Still can't get my brain to write, but wanted to do SOMETHING, so I thought I'd try some magnetic poetry.

Repulsive Goddess,
my blood beats fast
I heave, panting.

Mother Moon shines above,
the wind, a sordid whisper
through time.

A languid chant on my tongue,
the sky cries, please.

First Lines Meme

Stolen from [personal profile] tinny. This looks interesting! I barely make the cut with 14 fics, so I'm going to start with my very first fic and work my way to current. Maybe I can see some changes?

Rules: list the first lines of your last 10 published stories. See if there are any patterns yourself, or have other people say what they notice.

Hmm. It looks like I start my writing with some kind of action. Either dialogue or someone doing something. There's only one that starts with a description. And I don't really like that one all that much.

I'm also kind of hit or miss with names, but that's true all the way through my fics. Most of them are scene extensions, so I don't really feel the need to identify who I'm talking about as it's usually only two characters m/f. But it's also personal preference. I can't stand reading a character's name every five lines, I feel like it breaks the spell of the story a bit. Even worse if it's first name and last name.

I don't know that I see any improvement, but it doesn't seem worse either.

Writing

Worked on my Labyrinth fic today. Felt good to get something accomplished there. I managed to stitch two more parts together and add some to another part.

I think I know what to do with the part I was stuck on as well! It won't be as I originally imagined it,but I think it will work better for the story I've written. I think that's what was causing my block. I kept trying to force a square peg in a round hole. So hopefully now I can get past it and get it all put together.

I did a word count today and I'm at almost ten thousand words! Never thought it would be this long.

Poem

Women's Tariff

We are raised to be accommodating,
To not complain.
No longer taught by textbooks,
But with violence and coercion.
Stay silent,
Stay alive.

The word "no" is slowly erased
From our vocabulary.
We must always put them first.
Do anything they want.
Hollowing ourselves out.
Our bodies available,
Piece by piece.

We turn to each other,
Looking for help,
For comfort.
But all we get is shame.
Even though you know,
And I know,
That we are not to blame,
That we all are treated
The same.

We are like divers,
Make yourself small,
Hold everything in,
Tighter
Don't make a ripple.

Not all of us surface.
Some remain,
Floating,
Lost.
Drifting.

Others tread the waters,
Trying to break free.

And some sink to the bottom.
Drowned by the weight
Of their sorrows.

Fanfic

So... I wrote another fic. For a very small (read non existent, seriously, there are only three fics out there other than mine).

This one is quite a bit bigger than the other two I've posted. I didn't expect it to be so long! My other two are less than 1k words and this one is over 2k!!

So if you like the show Younger, or you're just bored and want to kill some time with some random smut, you can find my fic on ff and ao3.

FINALLY got some work in on my Laby fic! I haven't really had any inspiration for it in months. I would open it and make edits here and there, but not really add much.

I didn't add a *ton* today, but more than I have in a while. And it's good to feel the story moving again. I was worried it had died. :(

I'm up to about 8500 words now! I have no idea how long it will be, but I'm thinking it will be over 10k before I'm done.

Progress!

Worked on my Labyrinth fic tonight. Got two WIPs to mesh together! So now I only have four open WIPs for it.

My two main parts are five and six pages respectively and the other two are two and three pages respectively. I think I know how it's going to come together now, I just need to write the bits in between. And then write the end lol. I have an idea for the end, but I don't want to force it, so we'll see.

Writing

Did some more writing yesterday! This time on a fanfic. It's already longer than my other two fics combined. Which, really isn't saying much since the first one was just under 600 words and the second was just under 400 words. Yesterday I put down just over 1000 words! Some of it is just bare bones paragraphs that I have to go back and fill in better, but I put down enough to get the story moving and out of my head before I lost it.

My main problem with this fic is that it's now written in three parts. It keeps coming at me at different points in the story so I now have three different documents sitting open. And I have to figure out how to put them all together (if at all) and make it flow into one continuous story. I'm definitely going to need a beta for this one once I get it all mashed together. It wouldn't help to have one right now since everything is so disconnected and there's more to be written to hopefully bring it all together, at least story wise. Thankfully for this fandom I have an LJ group I can go to for help when I'm ready for it.

Unfortunately after next week I probably won't have much writing time as it's spring break and I have family coming to visit. :/

Writing

Woo! Wrote today for the first time in a while. Something more than just a random scene!

I added a little over 900 words to my original fic. I can feel it starting to take life. I can actually hear my MC now. It's a great feeling and one I've missed.

I'm up to just over 2100 words total and I know there's a lot more story to go. I'm still just building the foundation right now, but it's feeling pretty good!

If anyone would like to read it and give me some concrit, I'll send it to you. I don't normally let anyone read WIPs, but I figure it might be easier to fix things before they get too far embedded.
