Fear Machine and Books 15, 16, & 17
Aug. 18th, 2016 10:08 amI liked Fear Machine, except for the ending. But considering there is plenty more story after it, that may change. I wish I could just buy the whole series so I didn't have to sit around so long between reading, but at $20/book, that's a lot of money. I might try to pick up the next one tomorrow since I've got some money right now.
I got books 2 and 3 of the Black City trilogy pretty much at the same time, so I was able to read those back to back.
( Phoenix by Elizabeth Richards ) I liked that I got to learn more about a character briefly met in the first book. The actions of the main characters bothered me a little in some spots. I had to remind myself that that's how teenagers act and it isn't the author's fault. It actually probably reflects well on the author that she was able to make me feel that way. Most of this book was all conflict building to the final book.
( Wings by Elizabeth Richards ) I liked all the plot twists in this one. The ending wrapped everything up nicely, though it did have a very Hunger Games feel to it (the movie at least, I've never read the books).
And I just finished ( Doctor Sleep by Stephen King ) I liked this, but this is definitely more supernatural than horror, as much of King's more recent books are. When I first saw the book I thought it was a sequel to Insomnia, given the title, but when I heard it was actually a sequel to The Shinning, I was a little more interested. This does have some elements that reminded me of Insomnia though.
