Maleficent

Finally watched the movie last night. It wasn't bad, but it could have been better. Maleficent is my favorite Disney villain and I was really excited to see what they had come up with for a back story. While the idea was good, I'm not sure I liked the way it was done. I almost like the back story OUaT has for her better. Aside from the drug use.
While I like that she lived with other fey creatures, I don't like that she was the only one of her kind. She mentioned that her parents were dead, but what about the rest? And I hated the big heads on the three pixies. It worked in Wonderland, but stop it Disney.
I don't understand the first King's greed for the Moore. Maybe if it had been full of jewels or gold or something, but just for the sake of a "rising power" that no one had actually seen? Makes no sense.
Throughout the whole movie, Maleficent is the only one that actually raises Aurora. She and Diaval saved her life more than once. I know it's supposed to be a movie showing that Maleficent isn't horrible, but they kind of went against their own cannon. The fairies weren't completely incompetent and Maleficent had no idea where Aurora was.
I was really disappointed that it was Diaval that changed into a dragon and not Maleficent. I did really like the fact that her wings were still "alive" and that they flew to her when Aurora released them.
Overall it was an ok movie, but not something I want for my collection.
