I finished She's Come Undone. I wasn't really very impressed. It wasn't terrible, but I'm not sure I get why people love it so much. Maybe I'm just not the target audience or maybe I'm just missing the point. I don't know.

After that I picked up Of all the dukes in England, Jered Marcus Benton, the Duke of Bradford, was the wealthiest, most handsome — and most arrogant. And of all London’s ladies, he wanted the tender obedience of only one — Caroline Richmond.

She was a ravishing beauty from Boston, with a mysterious past and a fiery spirit. Drawn to the powerful duke, undeterred by his presumptuous airs, Caroline was determined to win his lasting love. But Bradford would bend to no woman — until a deadly intrigue drew them enticingly close. Now, united against a common enemy, they would discover the power of the magnificent attraction that brought them together…a desire born in danger, but destined to flame into love!. Julie Garwood is one of my go to romance authors. I usually love everything she writes (in the romance genre), but every once in a while I'll stumble on one that isn't as good as the rest. Unfortunately, this one was one of those. I just really didn't like the main male character and was only mildly interested in the main female character.

So then I switched to my Kindle. I had to take my husband to a doctor appointment and it was easier to grab than to try and find a new paperback before walking out the door.

I read A gypsy’s promise. A clockwork poison. A race to save a love balanced on the edge.

On the night they were to elope, a spurned lover returned. A gift, she claimed. But the clockwork contraption unwound a poisonous bloom, sending Lady Emily and Luca, her gypsy love, on a desperate race to reach the cure.. Turned out to just be a quick short story instead of a full ebook, but the story was amazing. The writing was great and managed to pull me into the story. I may try to find the rest of the series. Or at least the book that tells the rest of the story for these characters.

Since that was so short and I still had time to kill in the waiting room, I read A Near Future Retelling of Beauty and the Beast

Alainn’s father is not a bad man. He’s a genius and an inventor. When he’s hired to create the robot Rose, Alainn knows taking the money is a mistake.

Rose acts like a human. She looks exactly like Alainn. But, something in her comes out wrong.

To save her father from a five year prison sentence, Alainn takes Rose’s place. She says goodbye to the sun and goes to live in a tower no human is allowed to enter. She becomes the prisoner of a man no human is allowed to see.

Believing that a life of servitude lies ahead, Alainn finds a very different fate awaits her in the company of the strange, scarred recluse. This was really good as well. I would have liked more information on Lorrcan's past. I feel like there's more that could have been explored there.

Then I moved on to When a new witch threat rises, only Hunter Astley can stop them…

In the face of dark magic and evil witches, a secret witch-hunting society works tirelessly to keep them at bay. The Malleus Maleficarum Council have strict rules and practises for eradicating magic.
Due to their work, witches have been almost forgotten, relegated to myth; but rumours are starting to emerge of a new power that will throw the world into chaos.

As the only 7th generation witch-hunter, Hunter Astley is the best the MMC has to offer. With the help of his colleagues, it’s a race to track down this new threat and stop them… in any way he can. This is another one that was ok, not terrible, but not great either. Pretty predictable and the characters weren't all that endearing. The story itself was interesting, but not enough to make me want to find the rest of the series.

Currently I'm reading "Even shattered wings hold heavenly beauty."

I don't know who I am.
I don't even remember what my name is.
I was lost, confused and broken the day I met them.
My Angels.

To the world, they're nothing but leather wearing, foul-mouthed bikers, but to me, they are my saviors.
The light at the end of a very dark tunnel.

However, as my memory starts to come back to me in pieces, I fear the darkness ahead. Maybe the reason why I can't recollect anything is because I don't want to.

Life is sweet in heaven.

But hell doesn't want to let me go. I think I'm almost done with it, but I'm never really sure. The page count feature on my Kindle is messed up. But I like the story so far and I'm hoping for a resolution to her past without ruining her future/present life.
