Raging Rival Hearts Hunters are the enemy. That was what we faeries were always told.
Breaking my engagement to the man I had loved my entire life was a dangerous move, one that got me expelled from the faerie isle. I’d known the risks, though. I’d known that if Cruz, Cat or my brother didn’t find a way to get me home, the fire in my veins would dwindle until it was gone, and with it my life.
With mere weeks left to live, I set out on a last adventure: discover if more Daneelies had survived the massacre, the same way Catori’s ancestor had. Although I’d decided to go alone, Kajika insisted on accompanying me.
I wanted to believe he was coming because he liked me. But I was still the enemy…the mute girl whom he could hear speak when no one else could…the one person who could track him when he didn’t want to be found. This is book 4 of the Lost Clan series. The MC of this book shifts to one of the side characters to tie up loose ends from the series. I enjoyed seeing things from her point of view and finding out more about her. Book 5 of the series does a time jump and I skimmed through it a bit and decided it wasn't something I was interested in, so this was the end of the series for me.
After I finished the Lost Clan series, I tracked down the rest of the Wicked Origins series. A Wizard of Oz retelling I started a long time ago.
Wicked Gambit The Witch of the West is a necromancer.
And she doesn't take kindly to strangers on her land, not when she’s been preparing to make war against the Wizard. And now Dorothy and the three shifter brothers are unknowingly caught in the middle of the dispute. They will face more dangers than they anticipate, but Dorothy discovers a new magic power she has with the shoes. Will this newfound power help her destroy the witch and gain the brothers their pardon? Or will the cost of using that new magic be too great?
Wicked Rebel I was just getting used to my life back in Kansas, when I suddenly return to Oz, without Toto or the magic shoes that put me here. Time operates differently in both worlds, and though only four months has passed for me, more than two years have progressed in Oz.
And in that time, I’d somehow become a legend.
One of my boys has become a king. And the other two have been taken captive by the Witch of the South.
In order to stop a rebellion and help the shifter brothers, I have to take on a new item of power and become something I never thought I would… the Wicked Witch of the West.
Wicked Resolution Dorothy, now known as the witch killer, leads the charge to the South to take on the last remaining witch in Oz. Glinda is supposed to be the "good" witch, but she might only be a wolf in sheep's clothing. After all, she still has Gin in her prison.
I thought we’d won the battle for Emerald City against Jinjur and Mombi, but I’ve never been more wrong. Because of the incident I had with General Falcom during the conflict, he switches sides. Now, we have to figure out a way to get out of the city, save Gin from Glinda, and possibly even free the southern territory, while we’re at it. My reputation as a legend has gotten us new allies before, but would it work again? We need all the help we can get if we’re going to unite Oz and place it under one rule. But whose rule will it be? Jinjur or Mombi? Me or Chimmy? Or is there someone else, who we haven’t thought of yet? Overall I enjoyed this series, the way it used the original books and other Oz retellings to make it's own story.
After that, I moved on to a Cinderella retelling I started a while back.
Lucky Charm Princess Charmaine is getting married. She should be happy right?
The kingdom is in turmoil after the death of the king, and it’s up to Princess Charmaine to set things right. With her coronation looming and an upcoming wedding to sort out, she barely has time to worry about the people of magic that so desperately need her.
Still on the run from the police and no longer wanted in the kingdom he once loved, Cynder is forced to find another way to live, but when a chance encounter puts him back in touch with the love he lost, he knows he must do everything in her power to save her.
Charmed Once the ruler of the kingdom of Silverwood, Queen Charmaine finds herself running as a fugitive from the only life she has ever known.
With the people believing her to be dead and a tyrant taking over her land, Charmaine has to fight for her life, the lives of her family and most of all the magi of Silverwood.
Will she find a way to take her rightful place as the Queen of Silverwood before her enemy is coronated or will she succumb to the evil forces out to get her? This is a wonderful twist on the original tale. The workings of the world are a bit wonky sometimes, but it's fantasy, so it's easy to ignore. It has a bit of a Hunger Games feel to it, in that the media is used in a manipulative way and pretty much everything is televised.
