The second one wasn't really horror, it was just all over the place and sometimes overwhelmed with unnecessary information. I'm not reading the sequel because it's set up to be focused on the kidnapping of a young child. I don't read those any more.
I have read at least one of Kathy Reich's books! I remember trying to compare it to the show and realizing that they changed A LOT.
