Books 30, 31, & 32
Dec. 15th, 2017 09:06 amI finished From the Corner of his Eye. I actually really enjoyed it. After I got about halfway through the feeling of having read it before passed, so I'm not sure if maybe I started it once and didn't finish or what. Trying to explain what it was about/what was happening when my husband asked was interesting: "oh you know, quantum theory/multiverse, but you know, bad guy killing people and a detective trying to catch him." :) The hardest part for me was remembering that the story took place in the sixties. LOTS of racism. But only in the bad guy, so I'm pretty sure it was done so that the reader hates him more. And I had to remind myself that there were things technologically they couldn't do at that time. I kept thinking "why don't they just do X? Oh yeah, because it didn't exist then..."
After that I read a book that's been sitting on my Kindle for a while. ( The Gatekeepers Sons by Eva Pohler ) It was ok. The writing felt a bit inexperienced, but not terrible. The idea of the story is good, though it could be fleshed out a bit more. There was no real resolution because there's a sequel (or more), but I don't really care enough to try and get the next book.
I got ( City of Lost Dreams by Magnus Flyte ) from the library on Wednesday. It's much shorter than the first one (I finished it yesterday) and nothing of any real interest happens until the second half. It was good, but not as good as the first one.
Now I have a new book that my husband got me for my birthday! ( Mistress of all Evil by Serena Valentino )
