1. How many jobs have you had, and which was your favorite?
Umm...six. My favorite would probably be my first job. I was in HS and working at a movie theater. Pretty much everyone I worked with was in HS too and mostly from my school. Plus who doesn't enjoy free movies??
2. When did you first connect to other people via computers?
Hmm. I'm not really sure. Probably around 1995 or 1996.
3. Were/are you on AOL? Compuserve? A Listserv? Other?
I was! I used AIM up until 2009 or so.
4. If you went to college, does your major match your career/current job?
Ha! No college and no career here. I WISH there was some kind of helpful class on being a SAHM.
5. When did you get your first cell phone? What was it like? Did it have a screen?
In HS (2000, I think). I bought one for my mom first (well, a gift certificate for one, I wasn't 18 yet) and then she bought me one. It was a Nokia 5019 I think. No screen. Big bulky thing.
6. Do you still own media on physical one-off storage devices like CDs, tapes, reels?
I thought I still had pieces of a story on floppy disks, but now I can't find them, so I'm worried they're gone. :( I do still have all my CDs, my car only has a CD player.
7. When did your family first acquire a colour TV?
When my mom moved in with her second husband, so...1988?
8. When did your family acquire a second TV?
Well, we didn't get rid of our tv when we moved, so I guess the same time as above, but I never really had more than one tv until I got married. Now we have four! (one is in the attic, not being used)
9. Did you ever own “designer jeans”?
Actually, yes! I didn't know they were designer at the time, they were just cute and cheap, but I had a pair of Candie's in HS.
10. Have you ever been to a disco?
A real disco? No. A dance club? Yes.
11. How many places (towns, states, countries) have you lived in?
Um... four states (MI, NC, SC, GA), and nine cities (six of them in MI).
12. Have any of your contemporary friends died?
Yes. My friend's little brother died in a car accident in 2004 and my maid of honor died suddenly in 2010.
13. Are your parents still living?
Yes. Separately, but still living!
14. Do you have any gray hairs?
Not yet! Andy and I were just talking about this. He's starting to get some gray, so he asked when my mom started going gray (to gauge when I would) and I'm pretty sure she didn't really start until about 40, so I've got time! :)
15. Did you or your family own a Betamax?
I did not, but I think my grandmother did and I used to play on it.
16. How did you spend New Year’s Eve 1999/2000?
Working.
17. What’s the oldest article of clothing you still wear?
Hmm. I'm not sure. I don't really get rid of clothes unless they don't fit or I don't like them any more. I know I still have some stuff from HS, but I'm not sure how often I wear it. Then again, I'm pretty sure all the sweatshirts I've been wearing lately are from HS, so...
18. Do you eat your vegetables?
Nope. I've been trying to be better about it, but I really haven't found any I like. I can't stand the texture of most vegetables and the ones that I can, I don't like the taste of. :/
19. Are the privileges of adulthood worth the responsibilities?
Sometimes? I mean, I'm pretty lucky in that I don't have a job I have to go to every day, but at the same time, my job never STOPS. Only since Kiley started school have I really gotten any time to myself and even then there are days I spend doing things for Andy or for the house in general. Sometimes I just want to be a kid and just let someone else take care of everything.
20. Do you feel like an adult?
Mostly. I don't feel my age though.
21. Is youth wasted on the young?
I don't know. I think youth is wasted on some people who don't know how to handle it properly. And I think a lot of our youth is forced to grow up too soon. :/
