Books 39-42
Sep. 26th, 2019 12:22 pmI started reading an ebook collection, but I haven't finished it yet (I think I've read 3 of the 5 stories), so I'll list what I've actually finished.
In her dreams, she has no inhibitions.
Will she be willing to take new risks
When she meets the man of her dreams?
Not one man but three princes.
But in this Cinderella story
Brenna isn't sure she wants to be a princess.
She'd rather be in the library!
Walking away from the men isn't easy.
Even though she doesn't understand the magic that binds them,
They are her soulmates
And irresistible. was his and miss for me. Some parts were really well done and others seemed random. It is part of a trilogy though, so perhaps the random bits that didn't make sense are better explained later in the series. I didn't like it enough to read the rest.
I just finished the
A Discovery of WitchesWhen historian Diana Bishop opens a bewitched alchemical manuscript in Oxford’s Bodleian Library it represents an unwelcome intrusion of magic into her carefully ordinary life. Though descended from a long line of witches, she is determined to remain untouched by her family’s legacy. She banishes the manuscript to the stacks, but Diana finds it impossible to hold the world of magic at bay any longer.
Shadow of Night A Discovery of Witches introduced Diana Bishop, Oxford scholar and reluctant witch, and the handsome geneticist and vampire Matthew Clairmont; together they found themselves at the center of a supernatural battle over an enchanted manuscript known as Ashmole 782. Drawn to one another despite longstanding taboos, and in pursuit of Diana’s spellbound powers, the two embark upon a time-walking journey.
The Book of LifeAfter traveling through time in Shadow of Night, the second book in Deborah Harkness’s enchanting series, historian and witch Diana Bishop and vampire scientist Matthew Clairmont return to the present to face new crises and old enemies. At Matthew’s ancestral home at Sept-Tours, they reunite with the cast of characters from A Discovery of Witches—with one significant exception.. This is the series that the show is based on. I debated reading it before the show was over because I don't like spoilers, but I'm pretty deep in the fandom on Tumblr, so I was getting tons of spoilers anyway. At least now they make sense. I really enjoyed the series. Even without the show, this would be a series I would've really liked. There are some differences between the show and the book (the show has only covered book 1 so far), but not many. Now I just have to hope they do as well with season two.
**Note** I have decided I'm going to step away from reading for a bit. I've been spending all of my free time in books and my creative brain isn't happy with me... Hopefully I can figure out a balance and it won't be for too long.

on 2019-09-29 06:20 pm (UTC)The Discovery of Witches sounds very cliche, what with the vampire lover. Which is probably why it was made into a series. :)
Ah, good luck with the creativity! <3
