I started reading an anthology on my Kindle, Romance with a Bite will capture the heart of anyone who loves the bite of a sexy vamp, the growl of an Alpha wolf, or the sensual mystery of a fae prince or princess.
If you adore paranormal romance with an edge, this LIMITED EDITION collection will satisfy your every craving.
Vampires, shapeshifters, witches and fae – mythical creatures abound in these ten steamy romances that will leave you shivering with delight.. It's a collection of ten stories by different authors. I've read two so far.
I started re-reading Doctor Sleep by Stephen King because a friend was watching the movie and I wanted to know how well it followed the book, but he hadn't read the book. After talking to him a bit, I remembered that I had trouble following the book the first time I read it, so I started to read it again with the intent of watching the movie soon after. However before I got too far into it, I got the book that another friend had ordered for us to read together.
Seventeen-year-old Alice and her mother have spent most of Alice’s life on the road, always a step ahead of the uncanny bad luck biting at their heels. But when Alice’s grandmother, the reclusive author of a cult-classic book of pitch-dark fairy tales, dies alone on her estate, the Hazel Wood, Alice learns how bad her luck can really get: Her mother is stolen away—by a figure who claims to come from the Hinterland, the cruel supernatural world where her grandmother's stories are set. Alice's only lead is the message her mother left behind: “Stay away from the Hazel Wood.”
Alice has long steered clear of her grandmother’s cultish fans. But now she has no choice but to ally with classmate Ellery Finch, a Hinterland superfan who may have his own reasons for wanting to help her. To retrieve her mother, Alice must venture first to the Hazel Wood, then into the world where her grandmother's tales began—and where she might find out how her own story went so wrong. is fantastic! I got it in the mail on Friday and finished it today. The story is very immersive and the characters are well done.

on 2020-04-20 09:35 pm (UTC)My husband and I saw Doctor Sleep in the theater. He's read the book, but I can't remember how close he said the film stayed to it. He did like it, though, and usually he doesn't if the film strays too far from the source material...

on 2020-04-21 03:28 am (UTC)Good to know on Doctor Sleep! I'm back to reading that now. I'm almost halfway through and don't know how/why I felt so confused last time. It does jump around a lot, so I might've just been in a bad head space for it.
