Things have been so hectic, I didn't realize I hadn't updated my book list. I haven't had as much time for reading lately either, but things are slowing down a bit now.

I squeezed one more series out of my free unlimited subscription with The Four Horsemen Series by LJ Swallow. (I got them as two sets, books 1-4 and books 5-7, so I'm only counting them as two books)
Legacy I almost killed Death. Seriously, you would think supernatural beings could cross roads safely. Luckily for me, Death can't die however hard a car hits him. The guy was unharmed but unimpressed—and strangely attractive in a rain-soaked, not-dead way.

But I have a horrible feeling Death followed me.

I discover why when my stalker Death introduces me to three other friends who’re looking for me too. Guess who they are?
When Heath, Joss, Xander and Ewan inform me they’re the Four Horsemen, I know they’re not lying because nobody can lie to me. Even worse, I can’t lie at all and I’ve no idea why—I swear my parents cursed me when they named me Verity. Needless to say, none of this helps my social life.

Social life? Gone. I’m now helping my four dark and dangerous new companions police the supernatural world. This wasn’t how I predicted my life, but pursuing demons, vampires and fae is a hell of a lot more interesting than my boring job in tech support.

I leave my old life to move in with my smorgasbord of gorgeous guys and that’s where the trouble starts. There’s a weird bond between us all—broody Heath, gentle Joss, arrogant Xander, and the enigmatic Ewan who watches me with suspicion.

I’m a little concerned by the whole ‘Four Horsemen and the Apocalypse’ scenario and exactly where I fit in. Something big threatens the world and our connection takes hold in a strange but not entirely unpleasant way. Who wouldn’t want to be the centre of four guys’ world?

My bond with the Four Horsemen is about to become complicated on oh-so-many levels.
Bound What happens when you discover Truth is a lie?

Ewan's shock revelation sends my life further into chaos, and I face an uncertain future in a secret world I never knew existed. The Four Horsemen now have their missing link and will each do anything to protect and support me, but I’m determined to show them I can be their equal.

When I join the Four Horsemen's hunt for those behind the plot to murder a fae queen, I discover society faces bigger dangers than anybody realised. One night changes everything and increases my determination to harness my power and step into my new role. The group are about to find out exactly how powerful Truth is.
Hunted Who am I? Where did I come from? And what is the darkness the fae can see inside the Fifth?

Xander's reaction to these questions drives a bigger wedge between the fae and the Horsemen. His move isn't popular with the others because right now we need fae help more than ever.

A bloody message and a series of murders lead to a search for a threat from the past. Instead, the Horsemen encounter something new and dangerous. The race is on to find out what the creatures are and how big a threat they are to an already chaotic world.

I discover using my powers has a strange effect on my relationship with the Horsemen. Although this pulls me closer to the guys, the conflict with Xander continues. But is the greatest conflict within himself?

And as the Five search for answers, someone watches. What does he know, and can he help? Or does he have an agenda of his own?
Guardians Assassins, ancient magic, and the mysterious Collector bring new challenges to the Horsemen. Can we find the answers we need before it's too late?

Three humans are dead, and the search is on for the surviving member from my online group. If he's alive, Seth could hold the key to who's behind the attacks—and why the group are targeted.

Now they’ve broken their alliance with the fae, the Four Horseman must turn to others for help and are pulled deeper into the supernatural underworld. The danger the world faces is greater than they imagined, and someone is determined the Horsemen will fail.

The Four Horsemen will each do whatever it takes to protect me, but as our relationship intensifies, so does my power. How powerful can I become and at what cost to the Horsemen’s future?
ChaosQuestions will be answered. Trust will be rebuilt. And the true threat to the world will be revealed.

The threat to the Four Horsemen and the world continues, but now we have solid leads and are closer to uncovering who is behind the attacks. The five of us become closer as barriers fall and trust grows, yet one person remains worried about what will happen if I reach full power.

An opportunity to regain Portia's trust, some help from a supernatural mercenary, and an investigation into the Myriad Foundation reveal more answers about the chaos surrounding them. Suddenly, everything slots into place but the big picture isn't what we expected. What will happen if the only way forward for the Horsemen is an alliance with their enemies?
Descent Will the Fifth bring the apocalypse the Four Horsemen were sent to stop or is she here to prevent a world destroyed by chaos?

The Four Horsemen are left reeling from their discovery that the world is threatened by something greater than anybody imagined. Now the group are forced into an uneasy alliance with old enemies. But can they be trusted?

The group discover the shocking answer to who I am, why I’ms here, andmy connection to Chaos is revealed. As the pieces join together and the Horsemen find out more about their identities, their place in the world becomes clearer too.

How long do they have before Chaos becomes bored of his dangerous games and moves on to his final goal?

Whoever brought me into the Four Horsemen's lives created a powerful bond that Chaos has failed to break. Now we need to prove that our love and strength is enough to change the future for ourselves and the world.
Reckoning The book talks about Truth, Chaos and Order. But what about Love?

Now the shocking truth about my identity is revealed, we’re forced to leave the UK in pursuit of the god threatening to end the world.

But Chaos hasn’t finished his games yet. The countdown is on to stop the portals opening and to discover his whereabouts.
The arrival of new allies sends shockwaves through the group when they discover Joss’s theories are true. But with them comes new hope.

And following one more stunning twist about my identity and connection to the Four Horsemen, the five discover their place in the world is much bigger than we realised.

In the midst of the storm swirling around us, we grow closer as emotional barriers breakdown. Is our unshakeable bond enough to save everybody in the final battle with Chaos? Or will we be lost in their struggle to save the world?

I enjoyed this take on the Four Horsemen, the twist of making them defenders *against* the Apocalypse instead of causing it was interesting.

The very last book I read on unlimited was Her Villains In order to save her people, she must marry her enemies.

I’m the Shattered Isle princess.
I’ve grown up on horror stories about the four All Plane princes, and now I’ve been promised to them as their bride in order to usher in peace between our two warring realms.

First, I have to earn their trust.
Second, I must do what my father raised me to do—kill them all.

But the task is almost impossible when each of the princes have an unflinching need to claim me as theirs.

The chemistry between us is electric.
They’re danger and desire and forbidden temptation, and I’ve never tasted anything as sinfully sweet.

When secrets are unveiled, I realize there is more to my villains than I ever thought possible. Now I’m in a battle with my heart, and choosing the wrong side of this war could cost me everything.
A friend recommended this to me and I enjoyed it, though when I went to look up the summary, the first comment spoiled it a bit for me. So if you want to read it, don't read reviews. This is book one of two, but when I last checked, book two wasn't available yet. I think it will be soon.

With my free trial over, I dug through my Kindle and found Sleeping Beauty No More by Aisha Urooj. It's book 2 of 3, but I didn't feel I missed anything coming in as its a retelling of the Disney tale. I felt it had some elements of Tangled as well. I enjoyed the story, its another that gives Aurora more control over her own fate/story. There were some areas that seemed to move too quickly, but overall, is a good story.

After that, I moved on to some mystery/thriller with Played to Death Simmering resentment in a small coastal town. A missing manuscript. A dark family secret.

Scott Drayco isn’t a typical detective: a former concert pianist with synesthesia, he turned to law enforcement when a violent attack put an end to his music career.

After Drayco inherits a rundown Opera House in a Virginia seaside town following a particularly brutal case, he just wants to arrange a quick sale for the unwanted “gift” while nursing his battered soul in a peaceful setting near the shore.

Those hopes are shattered when a dead body turns up on the Opera House stage, a mysterious "G" carved into the man's chest. With himself a suspect in the murder, Drayco digs into very old and very dangerous secrets to solve the crime and clear his name.

But first...Drayco must dodge a wary Sheriff, hostility over coastal development, and the seductive wife of a town councilman—before the tensions explode into more violence and he becomes the next victim.
This is book one in an on-going series, but they're all different stories, just with the same MC. I enjoyed the story and the MC was interesting, I would definitely read more in this series. There were some twists and turns and normal small town drama all draws you into the story.

Bellhop Lies, secrets, and a sinister plot hide in broad daylight at the heart of the Club Pacifica.

A beautiful tropical resort, exciting new friends, and a handsome guest liaison – it’s the perfect getaway for Chloe, a free-spirited Baltimore girl just getting to know herself. But the vacation of a lifetime quickly takes a dark turn when a young, overly flirty bellhop starts following her everywhere. It gets even worse when he disappears, and Chloe is the sole witness.

As bellhop after bellhop goes missing, she struggles to figure out what’s happening. When suspicion falls upon her, Chloe must not only try to rescue the kidnapped bellhops, but also to clear her name.

Complicating things further is the relationship she forms with Mateo, Club Pacifica’s guest liaison. Charming and easygoing, he is everything that her fiancé at home is not, and she finds herself fighting a growing attraction to him. But can he be trusted?

She soon discovers that she’s landed herself in a world of secrets, and, worse, that these are not just those of others, but also the secrets she keeps from herself.

Can Chloe find her way through all the lies to finally discover the truth before it’s too late? This was not at all what I expected. It was a fun read that kept up the mystery vibe without going dark and sinister. There were some intesnse/suspenseful spots, but was overall a light story.

Ghost Trapper Paranormal investigator Ellie Jordan kicks ghosts out of haunted houses. Her tools include historical research, modern technology, plenty of courage, and a dash of psychology.

Ellie's not so sure about her new assistant, a recent film school graduate named Stacey with a knack for capturing images of apparitions and phantoms, but she's training her on the job as they investigate a crumbling centuries-old mansion in Savannah, Georgia. The owners are a struggling family desperate for help with a disturbing supernatural presence that terrifies them and prevents them from restoring the historic home. Dangerous spirits from the house’s sordid past will test Ellie and Stacey's ability to work together, confront evil, and defeat the darkness that resides within.
This was a fun read! Very Ghostbusters feel. I enjoyed that it takes place in Savannah, it's always interesting to me to read something set in a location I'm familiar with. This is also another book one of an on-going series with the same MC.

I just finished Identical Death Anna Carmen died six hours ago. Cici knew the exact moment because she’d swear until the day she died her sister said her name in a soft, broken voice just as Cici’s mind switched off...

Few people have ever experienced a connection like the one Cici Gurule and her sister had. The women weren't just twins; they were identical.

Yes, were.

Now, Cici must learn to live without her sister...

...and deal with her unsolved murder and a cold trail. I was unaware that this was a prequel novella when I read it. It left me feeling disappointed. The story was really just getting started when it ended.
